Larry's space

I am not really sure why I always update my blog while in India, but any rate I am here again but this time in West Bengal.  That is the where Sunderbans are. The Sunderbans are the mangrove forrest where the poorest of the poor go off to fish, collect firewood, and honey.  All of this is done illeagaly as most of it is a protected Tiger presereve.  Many people are eaten by tigers here each year.  Sometimes the tigers will swim out into the river and actually take people off of the boats during the middle of the night.  This place is truly magical as my big brother in China says.  Magical is a poliate way to put it.  Everytime I come here I wish the girls could see how

life plays out here.  I mean everything from the kids going barefoot to school, the ones that go to shcool, to the ones walking down the street with nothing on except their birthday suit, to the girls going to the well the collect the days water that is for sure contaminted, to the people using the bathroom on the side of the roads.  Wahsing dishes in the dirty river, bathing in the pond with the fish, snakes and ducks.  Mixing cow dung with straw to use a fuel to cook your dinner over.   Or just the sheer struggle to dodge the traffic as you walk down the street.  I find myself moaning as Mallorie always does just loading the dishwasher, being here really opens my eyes as to how blessed I truly am.  I never look at things the same after being in India.  The other day we went to a National Forrest and game presereve.  We walked around the visitors center and came upon a school for the children of the workers.  These kids had no shoes, and took a bath under a bucket, but they were the happiest kids in the world, no ipods, gameboys, cellphones none of that junk.  They brought me to tears, as i took pictures and video of our chance encounter.  One little boy could never get in the pictures, he was like the runt in a litter of pigs so when we were all together i picked him up while we got our picture made so he could be seen.  When we were leaving they all were yelling thank you Sir, bye sir.  I just thought, kids i should be thanking you for touching my life at this moment in time.   Pics of this to come later with better internet connection.

Well, Here it is.  My first entry.  Sitting in a hotel in India just finished working for this trip.  I first must say thanks to my Wife for all the support and everything she does to make it possible for me to travel, and second to the two oldest girls for all they do to help their mom while not only when I am away but while I am at home as well, and third to daughter number 3 but she is to young to read this now.  I am truly blessed with a great family and a great job as well.  This page will be a work in progress as my "techie" skills improve, Ah who am I kidding, I am now middle age man and I will have to get Mal to help me with this.  I used to die laughing at the SNL skit with Mike Myers doing Middle Age man.  Well I am there and it is not so funny anymore.  The main purpose of this page will be to share photos of my travels with my family and friends.  I also hope to enlighten anyone who takes the time to read this with things I see and experience.  I can tell you that I have not looked at things the same since I started this job in July.
